Last advice.

Alright, I hope you've had an amazing time diving into one of my favourite areas of Costa Rica! There is so much to see and do that you could easily spend another four days without getting bored! But of course, there are many other beautiful places in this country worthwhile a visit!

Last day Manuel Antonio

The last day. Assuming you won't have to leave today and still want to do some awesome things, here we go.

More restaurants Manuel Antonio for Breakfast

Breakfast.

You might have found a spot yourself which you'd like to try, or go to that one spot where you've been before. But if you want to try something new, here are some of my favourites.

           Agua Azul.

This place has excellent views and delicious breakfast and lunch options. It opens at 11 am, so it's ideal if you have a little sleep-in but still want to enjoy breakfast. Tip: try their burger..!

           Brooklyn Bakery.

Yes, it's in Quepos, but it is definitely worth the drive! This place serves some of the best bagels and sandwiches in Costa Rica. It might be your best 10 minutes spent in a car or taxi!

More morning activities in Manuel Antonio

Morning activities.

•           Skydive in Costa Rica.

This is a life-changing experience. You'll get to see Manuel Antonio from the sky while getting an abnormal amount of adrenaline! Go early to enjoy seeing the beaches without lots of people on them.

•           Zip-lining rainmaker experience.

There is an extraordinary adventure park where you get to walk and fly through the trees! This is doable for all ages, making it a perfect family activity.

More lunch options Manuel Antonio

Lunch.

These are my ideas of a perfect lunch, they are on the go. If you prefer to dine in, I have discussed a bunch of options in the previous days.

           Super Joseth.

This little supermarket in Manuel Antonio has the best variety of food, snacks, and beverages! I like to get a bottle of their wine (pro tip: Los Diablos Cabernet Sauvignon), some bread, and a variety of cheese and meat. This makes for a great picnic on the beach!

           Farmers Market.

In Quepos is a great farmers market. Buy the things you crave, and enjoy them on the beach!

Other cool beaces: Playa Gemelas and Biesanz

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon.

Take the food and drinks you've bought and go to one of the following beaches for a nice afternoon with an ocean view.

           Playa Biesanz.

After walking on a 10-minute trail, you'll find yourself on a beautiful and quiet beach. Great for people that want some more privacy. Not really good for surfing, though.

           Playa Gemelas.

This is a small and remote beach. I always go super early to this beach, because walking there by yourself is a very special experience! Later in the day, there might be some more crowds, but it won't get super busy.

           Playa Espadilla Sur.

This beach is next to the main beach. Be on the lookout for a rock formation because you'll find this hidden gem right behind it! It's more crowded than the beaches above here, but also a lot easier to access.

More Evening Restaurants Manuel Antonio

Evening.

Enjoy your last evening in one of the following must-experience restaurants!

           Marisqueria Jiuberths.

This locally-owned fish restaurant in Quepos is my absolute favourite! If you haven't tried ceviche (a South American fish dish) yet, try it here!

           La Luna.

This fine dining restaurant has a beautiful outside area and great food! The prices are a bit higher, but so are the food quality and the service! Great way to end your trip to Manuel Antonio.

Summary

This itinerary is about a tour of one of my favorite coastlines—the west coast of Costa Rica. The country is famous for its amazing surf, volcanos, national parks, wildlife diversity, great climate and of course for its lifestyle of ‘Pura Vida’.

My name is Luuk van Garderen. I moved to Costa Rica after almost ten years of backpacking around the world, experiencing the hostel- and van life, doing volunteer work for food and accommodation, and surfing as much as possible, trying to experience everything this world has to offer. I have met lots of amazing people and gained heaps of fantastic experiences throughout my years of traveling.

Since I love traveling, hospitality and writing, it seemed logical to become a travel designer. This way, I could use my experiences and knowledge to help others get the most out of their journey.

Costa Rican has world-class waves, an amazing climate, and just way too much to see and do. I try to include the best variety of activities per location, good advice, and some locals-only information in my itineraries. There will be different options, and when necessary, don’t hesitate to contact me. (Important advice before booking your flight…! Decide if you want to enter and exit the country through the same airport. Traveling within Costa Rica can be time-consuming. It would make sense to land in San Jose for this itinerary and book your return ticket from Liberia Airport. However, if this is not possible, don’t worry, I’ll provide you with other options too).
