Day 3 - Flight from Lima to Cusco and transfer to the hotel
Transfer from your hotel to Lima airport.
The best way to go from Miraflores to the airport is by using a mobility app like Uber or Cabify. Schedule your trip in advance to arrive at Lima airport two hours early. Another way to schedule your trip is from the lobby of your hotel.
Flight from Lima to Cusco in the morning
Most flights depart very early from Lima to Cusco. The reason is that the Cusco airport is located between mountains and it is very common for airplanes not to be able to land because the sky closes due to clouds. There are some low-cost local airlines that fly from Cusco to Lima such as Star Peru and Viva Air Peru. The largest and internationally known is LATAM. Personally, I prefer LATAM. The reason is that the planes are the most modern and large, also they have more departures and schedules. You can find many offers and pay up to 25 USD for the flight, but the regular price is between 50 and 75 USD per person.
Arrival at Cusco airport and transfer to the city center.

The center of Cusco is located approximately 6 kilometers from the Plaza de Armas in the Historic Center of Cusco. The journey takes about 20 minutes.

The most common way to get from Cusco airport to your hotel is by taxi. There is only one formal company called Llama Taxis. The cost to take you to your hotel is 50 Soles (~15 USD). They are located inside the airport near the baggage claim area.

Outside the terminal, there are many taxi drivers fishing for clients. If you want to use their services, you have to negotiate the fare with them before getting into the car. The regular cost is approximately 15 soles (~5 USD) but initially they will offer you a price of up to 30 soles.

Acclimate the Body to the Altitude of Cusco

Cusco is located at an altitude of approximately 3400 meters. The altitude is higher compared to most cities in the world. At higher altitudes, there is less oxygen in the atmosphere, so some people may experience dizziness, headaches, and nausea.

Most flights arrive early in Cusco, so hotel check-in is at 11 am. I suggest arriving at your hotel to rest for an hour or two. Later, you can take a leisurely walk around the center of Cusco. Stop to have a coca tea and enjoy the atmosphere.

Even if you are very excited about your arrival, avoid overexerting yourself. Most people do not experience any discomfort, but it is better to be cautious. To prevent discomfort, it is best to have plenty of coca leaf tea.

Freedom in Cusco to visit the city, Qorikancha, and the Convent of Santo Domingo.
Cusco is the starting point for thousands of tourists from all over the world on their expedition to Machu Picchu. The atmosphere of the city is great, although it is a predominantly indigenous town, you will find people from all over the world. Walk towards the Plaza de Armas, which is the city center and where you will find the Church of the Company of Jesus. In the surroundings, there are several little cafes and travel agencies if you wish to purchase a tour. From there, head towards the San Blas neighborhood. This is the most charming neighborhood in Cusco. The cobblestone streets are narrow and steep, surrounded by ancient colonial houses. There are also many small shops and artisan workshops where you can buy souvenirs from your trip. You can also visit Qorikancha and the Convent of Santo Domingo. Qorikancha is a temple initially built by the Incas dedicated to the god of the sun. Over time, it grew to become one of the most important religious centers of the Inca Empire. The temple is full of giant rocks that were joined without any additive. Then they covered the rocks with gold sheets. With the Spanish conquest, Qoricancha was transformed into the Convent of Santo Domingo.
