Travel Designer Review:
To reach the port of Playa del Carmen, you can walk from many places in the city center since it is located near the tourist area. However, if you are far away or prefer not to walk, the easiest option is to take a taxi. I don't really like taking taxis because you have to negotiate the price and many times it is abusive.
If you want to take a taxi and get an economical price, you have to go away from 5th avenue and walk towards 10th or 15th street.
Regarding ferry ticket prices, these can vary depending on the season and the company you choose. Generally, round-trip tickets cost around 500 MXN, but it is always a good idea to check updated prices before buying your tickets.
Near the port of Cozumel, there is a shopping plaza where you will find many tour agencies and activities to do on the island, including snorkeling tours and other water activities.
For those interested in snorkeling in Cozumel, it is important to choose a reliable agency that has quality equipment and trained guides. I recommend some that I know to those who book one of my itineraries with this activity.
It is also true that on the island of Cozumel, there are many other activities to do, such as renting a motorcycle or jeep to explore the island, visiting El Cielo beach, which is famous for its crystal clear waters and relaxed atmosphere, or enjoying delicious local cuisine at one of the restaurants in the area.
Cozumel, Mexico's largest Caribbean island and one of the world's top cruise ship destinations, is a genuine tropical paradise that offers more than just sun-soaked relaxation. With its crystal-clear waters, spectacular coral reefs, rich history, and vibrant culture, Cozumel provides a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural charm that captivates every visitor.
Cozumel's aquatic environment is a diver's dream. The island is surrounded by the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest coral reef system in the world. As such, it's a top-rated spot for scuba diving and snorkeling. The vibrant underwater world teems with colorful fish, sea turtles, and a variety of corals that will leave you in awe.
If you prefer to stay above water, Cozumel doesn't disappoint. The island's lush jungle offers exciting opportunities for eco-tours, quad biking, and bird watching. The Punta Sur Eco Beach Park is an excellent destination for wildlife enthusiasts who might spot crocodiles, flamingos, and a multitude of exotic birds.
Cozumel's history is as deep as its azure waters. The island was once a sacred site for the Mayan civilization, and you can still visit several archaeological sites, including San Gervasio, the most important ancient Mayan site on Cozumel. It was once a center of worship for the goddess Ixchel, the deity of fertility and the moon.
The island's cultural heritage can be further explored in the island's capital, San Miguel. The town's charming square, lively markets, and local museums, including the Island Museum, are a testament to the rich tapestry of Cozumel's history.
These are the activities that you can do in Cozumel. For all who book one of my itineraries with this activity I share the best tour operators that I know in Cozumuel.

Immerse yourself in this fascinating itinerary where we will explore the most prominent charms of Riviera Maya, setting up base in the vibrant Playa del Carmen. This city is strategically located at the heart of the main attractions of Riviera Maya: Chichén Itzá, Xcaret, Tulum, Coba, and so much more...
In this captivating journey, not only will we explore Playa del Carmen, but we will also discover the magic of cenotes, admire the ancient ruins of Tulum, and delight in the unique beauty of Cozumel during a day trip. Although Riviera Maya has much more to offer, I consider these to be the most essential and unforgettable experiences.
I have selected for you mid-to-high category hotels in Playa del Carmen, strategically located to facilitate your travels. Given that our time in the hotel will be limited, I have not opted for the All-Inclusive option. I firmly believe it is more beneficial to invest our money in the rich experiences awaiting us rather than hotel meals that we possibly won't fully take advantage of.
