Today I'm not going to suggest a specific activity. It depends a lot on each person's preferences, energy, and the town where you decide to stay, as well as the availability of accommodations.

On the way to Machu Picchu, there is a place known as the Sacred Valley. This valley was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Throughout the valley, there are several colonial towns with their own traditions, architecture, and art.

I recommend spending one night in the Sacred Valley. This way you can enjoy the area, have a peaceful day, and relax.

After breakfast at your hotel in Cusco, you will need to find a taxi driver to take you to the hotel you choose in the Sacred Valley. The approximate cost is between 25 and 40 USD per car.

When you arrive at your hotel, you can ask about available activities. You can also explore the surroundings on your own.

I suggest several lodging options in the Sacred Valley because the hotels are small and rooms are often limited.

These are the most beautiful towns where I suggest you stay:

  • Urubamba: It is the capital of the province and one of its most beautiful towns. It is located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. You can walk around, visit the main square (Plaza de Armas), see the Church of San Francisco, buy handicrafts, or go to the Urubamba River.
  • Ollantaytambo: This is the closest town to Machu Picchu within the Sacred Valley. Its main attraction is the nearby Inca ruins, known as the Ollantaytambo ruins, which are very interesting to visit.

The Sacred Valley was a very important place for the Inca culture because of the many natural resources it offers.

Summary

Get ready for an unforgettable experience in Peru with this travel itinerary that covers the most emblematic tourist destinations: Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and the majestic Machu Picchu! This journey has been meticulously designed to offer you the best of Peru in one trip. This is one of the classic Peru travel itineraries.

Start your adventure in the vibrant capital of Peru, Lima. I suggest spending a full day here, in addition to your arrival day. This planning will not only allow you to acclimatize but also give you the opportunity to explore the city's rich history and culture. I also recommend booking your flight from Lima to Cusco for the following morning. This is crucial as morning flights to Cusco, a mountainous region, tend to have fewer complications.

To maximize your experience and save on costs, I advise purchasing a multi-destination flight from your home city to Lima and then from Cusco back to your home. Subsequently, buy the flight from Lima to Cusco separately. National airlines offer very competitive rates, allowing you to save without sacrificing comfort.

During your trip, you will enjoy accommodations of upper-middle and superior categories, ensuring comfort and quality at each destination. These hotels have been carefully selected to offer you a pleasant and memorable stay.

By booking this itinerary, you will not only have access to a perfectly structured tour but also receive exclusive tips that will enrich your experience. These additional tips will make your trip even more rewarding.

Don't wait any longer and embark on this unique adventure through Peru! Your dream trip awaits you with unforgettable moments and stunning landscapes.
