Yucatan Peninsula: Nature, Pyramids and Gastronomy with Experts
Travel Designer Review:
Your first adventure on a trip to the beautiful Riviera Maya will be reaching your destination after possibly a long journey. One of the most common routes is from Cancun International Airport to Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or visiting for the first time, understanding the different transportation options and choosing the most suitable one can make your journey easier and more enjoyable.
In this guide, we will explore the different ways to reach different destinations in the Riviera Maya from Cancun Airport, ensuring you start your vacation on the right foot. However, keep in mind that buses may have fixed schedules, so it's essential to plan your trip accordingly. Here are some tips as insider information.
One of the most convenient and popular options is taking an ADO bus from the airport. These buses allow you to relax and enjoy the scenic ride. They are comfortable, reliable, and more affordable than private taxis. The price per person is approximately 300 pesos.
For those seeking a personalized and exclusive experience, private transfers are the preferred option. You can book a private car or van in advance and have a driver waiting for you at the airport. This option guarantees a direct transfer to your hotel without making additional stops. If you're traveling in a group, this option is often more economical than purchasing multiple ADO tickets.
If you're on a budget or prefer a more adventurous experience, public transportation is available from Cancun Airport. You need to take the ADO bus to the Cancun bus station and then take another bus to your destination.
For travelers who enjoy independence and flexibility, renting a car is a viable option. Several car rental companies have offices at Cancun Airport, allowing you to pick up your vehicle upon arrival. The journey from Cancun to Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum is relatively straightforward, with well-maintained highways. Having a car also provides the freedom to explore nearby attractions and enjoy day trips at your own pace.
It's important to note that taxi fares may be higher than other options. Make sure to negotiate the price or use an authorized taxi service to avoid overcharging. Also, always choose licensed taxis and confirm the fare before getting into the vehicle.
Consider your budget, preferences, and travel requirements when making your decision. Whatever means of transportation you choose, rest assured that the journey will be just the beginning of an incredible adventure in the captivating destination of Playa del Carmen.
Normally, I share these tips as insider information in my itineraries, but in this case, I think it's essential to share them with everyone.
The worst thing you can do is arrive at Cancun Airport without knowing what to do. There are many transporters who take advantage of tourists. They have tricks up their sleeves and can make your journey unpleasant.
It's unfortunate, but you need to be careful. My advice is, if you're in a group of three or more people, choose to book your transfer in advance. I use this website: Cancun Airport Transfer Services
Be careful! Even if you have a reservation with any transport company, you still need to be cautious. There are drivers who, if they find you lost, can make you believe they are the assigned drivers and deceive you. This strategy is deplorable but it happens. They will pick you up, take you to your destination, and then tell you that your reservation was not with them. They will make you pay again and put you in a problem.
If there are two people and you want to save money, it's best to use the ADO bus!
