Morning tours Manuel Antonio

Lets do this!

Alright, a new day with many exciting options. There is so much to do, and since this will be a four-day itinerary, I would personally recommend you to take a full-day tour on your second day. This way, you can experience the beauty of Manuel Antonio and learn about the area.

Pro tip: local people always know the best spots to visit, so dont hesitate to ask your guide if they know some exciting, relaxing, or thrilling things to do in the area.

Some of my favourite day trips in Manuel Antonio are:

Nuayaca waterfall tour

Nuayaca waterfall tour

This day tour brings you to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Costa Rica. I know a few of the tour guides myself, and they keep surprising me with the amount of knowledge they have about the national park. This tour includes breakfast and lunch and takes around 6 hours.

Catamaran Adventure Manuel Antonio

Catamaran adventure

Have a look at the park, but from a different perspective. Being on the ocean has always been something I love and highly recommend anyone to try. These tours will show you the park, beaches, and ocean life. The tours include lunch and snorkel opportunities with gear included. The tour will be around 5 to 6 hours and includes transport to your accommodation.

Some local dining advise

Some local dinner advice.

There are many fine-dining restaurants in Manuel Antonio, focused on tourists. But if you really want to enjoy Costa Rica and its culture, there is one place that I think you should absolutely visit.

Soda Angel

Soda’s are the most typical Costa Rican type of restaurants you’ll find. They sell local dishes, fresh juices, and cold beer. Soda Angel is one of my ‘go-to’ places when I visit friends in Manuel Antonio. The portions are big and cheap, and the staff very friendly!

Evening Adventures

There is always something happening at night in a natural park full of nocturnal animals. There are two types of night trips done in Manuel Antonio, and I think theyre both just as worthwhile.

Jungle Night Hike Manuel Antonio

A guide will take you on a hike through the rainforest at night. They will be able to tell you fascinating things about the animals that roam the rainforest during the dark hours. Make sure to take your camera! These tours take around 3 hours and have transport from and to your accommodation.

Boat tour at night through the mangroves
Secret information: upon booking this itinerary the Travel Designer reveals additional information with tips.

Experience the rainforest nightlife from a stealthy boat. The guide will show you many different animals and tell you about them. You’re almost sure to see some eyes lighting up. Lucky you, a crocodile is having a look at you. So make sure to look back! These tours also take around 3 hours. The tours include transport to and from your accommodation.

If you book this itinerary I will share with you a advise that I am sure will make your experience much better.

Summary

This itinerary is about a tour of one of my favorite coastlines—the west coast of Costa Rica. The country is famous for its amazing surf, volcanos, national parks, wildlife diversity, great climate and of course for its lifestyle of ‘Pura Vida’.

My name is Luuk van Garderen. I moved to Costa Rica after almost ten years of backpacking around the world, experiencing the hostel- and van life, doing volunteer work for food and accommodation, and surfing as much as possible, trying to experience everything this world has to offer. I have met lots of amazing people and gained heaps of fantastic experiences throughout my years of traveling.

Since I love traveling, hospitality and writing, it seemed logical to become a travel designer. This way, I could use my experiences and knowledge to help others get the most out of their journey.

Costa Rican has world-class waves, an amazing climate, and just way too much to see and do. I try to include the best variety of activities per location, good advice, and some locals-only information in my itineraries. There will be different options, and when necessary, don’t hesitate to contact me. (Important advice before booking your flight…! Decide if you want to enter and exit the country through the same airport. Traveling within Costa Rica can be time-consuming. It would make sense to land in San Jose for this itinerary and book your return ticket from Liberia Airport. However, if this is not possible, don’t worry, I’ll provide you with other options too).
