On your own: Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Sumidero Canyon, and San Cristóbal de las Casas.
Travel Designer Review:
Today I propose dedicating the day to the indigenous culture of Chiapas. San Cristóbal de las Casas is a divine town. You could spend days walking through the streets, visiting the churches, handicraft shops, museums, and cafes. I recommend letting yourself get carried away, getting lost, and discovering the city on your own. Let your feet take you wherever you feel drawn to and enjoy.
Take your camera, awaken your creativity, fill yourself with energy to walk, and take photos of the town. I could mention where to go and what places to visit. But the reality is that San Cristóbal is a small town and the places to visit can be seen from almost everywhere.
You have to go to the center and the market. I recommend climbing the two hills that have a church on the highest part: the Ex Convent of Santo Domingo and the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Also, visit the Arco del Carmen, walk along Calle Real de Guadalupe, and the Central Plaza.
I believe that dedicating time to San Cristóbal is important in your trip to Chiapas. Experience the life of such a culturally rich and beautiful place. San Cristóbal de las Casas is considered by many as the most beautiful town in Mexico and it is a worthy place to enjoy.
If you have a lot of energy and desire to explore more, you can visit the nearby towns of San Juan Chamula and Zinacatán. To go to these places, you need to go by car or join a tour.
San Juan Chamula is a very interesting place, but not everyone likes it. The famous thing about this place is that very special and unique religious acts are practiced in the central church. These acts can be quite intense, so I do not recommend it for families with minors. Zinacatán, on the other hand, is a place with fewer tourists and more tranquility. There are factories and textile artisans selling their products, and it is very beautiful to visit.
Both San Juan Chamula and Zinacatán are indigenous towns with traditions worth seeing.
At the end of the day, I invite you to go to one of the chocolate shops to have a coffee and relax as the evening passes.

The following suggested activities and notes are not included in the reservation of this itinerary. The Travel Designer included them so that you can optionally do them on your own during your trip.
Chiapas is one of the most impressive and beautiful states in all of Mexico. I have visited it many times for over 10 years. I also had the luck of living in a house in San Cristóbal de las Casas for a period of time.
All of the visits I have made to Chiapas have been very pleasant experiences. Some trips I specifically made to explore tourist attractions, hotels, and tours to recommend to my acquaintances.
This tour I have designed is for those who want to enjoy Chiapas on their own, without the restrictions of being tied to the schedule of a tour, seeing the most emblematic places at a very affordable price.
It is a trip aimed at families, couples, or friends who want to enjoy a medium to high level of comfort. It is not a trip aimed at backpackers, although it is probably accessible to them as well since Chiapas is very affordable.
In all the trips I design, I usually recommend 4-star category hotels. Occasionally, I recommend some of lower category because they are the only ones available or the best in the area. When I recommend a 5-star hotel or a more expensive one, it is because I believe the hotel is, in addition to accommodation, a destination or tourist attraction itself.
To make this trip, it is recommended to rent a car for your entire stay (not included in the price). If you do not wish to drive, the best way to get around is by using taxis.
