Tours Yucatan Peninsula: Riviera Maya, Yucatán and Campeche
Treasures of the Yucatan Peninsula: A Family Adventure through Culture, Cuisine, and Nature
Travel Designer Review:
This day I will recommend you relax and explore the island. Isla Mujeres is a paradise, so taking it easy and soaking up the beauty of the island is a great way to start your vacation.
I recommend booking your stay in Playa Norte, which is a popular area of the island with a beautiful beach and plenty of restaurants and bars. From there, you can rent a Golf car for around 65 USD a day and head to Punta Sur, which is located on the southern tip of the island.
Punta Sur is an interesting place to visit because you'll find the ruins of the Mayan temple of Ixchel, the goddess of the moon and fertility to whom the island was once devoted. Exploring the ruins and learning about the island's history is a fascinating experience.
Another great thing to do is to take the Carretera Panoramica, a scenic road that runs along the eastern coast of the island. Be sure to bring your bathing suit, sunscreen, and towel, as you may come across a beautiful spot to take a dip and enjoy the sea.
In addition to visiting Punta Sur and the Carretera Panoramica, another fantastic activity in Isla Mujeres is to visit one of the island's many beaches. Kin Ha is a particularly lovely beach, known for its crystal-clear water and stunning views. It's a great place to relax, swim, and soak up the sun.
If you're looking for more beach options, Playa Garrafon and Playa Lancheros are also worth considering. Playa Garrafon is a popular destination for snorkeling, and it has beautiful coral reefs teeming with marine life. Playa Lancheros is another great beach with crystal-clear water and soft sand, and it's an excellent spot to watch the sunset.
Do not forget to visit Punta Norte, for me is the most beautiful beach in all the Riviera Maya and it is close to your hotel. So maybe you can end up your day in Punta Norte.
Overall, taking a relaxed approach and exploring the island's natural beauty and history is a great way to start your Isla Mujeres adventure. So, grab a golf car and head to Punta Sur and the Carretera Panoramica to enjoy the sights and sounds of this paradise island.
If you book one of the itineraries I designed with this activity I will share with you a great place to eat and experience the real local cuisine (and what people in Isla Mujeres eat).
